Great for preservation, but not for cataloguing. - By: D R Brown Durham, NC - Posted: Jan 7, 2014
I use several of these boxes for storing valued documents and 8x10 photos, some of which are over a hundred years old. I put a sheet of Lineco tissue between each one. This keeps them from sticking to one another. Many of the old photos had been in cardboard photo folders which were not acid-free and were causing the photo to fade wherever there was close contact. The box's fold-down side makes it easy to thumb through the photos and documents. The one serious drawback is that the boxes lack an ID holder. If you have many boxes an ID is needed. I use a sticky label, but that is not very elegant, and when the growing contents need to be redistributed or recatalogued, one has to stick new labels over the old ones.
We do offer label holder F-LH-12 that works rather well on binders and boxes.
